Allowance – Work it, Work it Good

I398I get Awareness.  I understand Eckhart Tolle when he recommends we “watch the thinker.”  I get Intent. Make a conscious resolution about something, anything; even weird, seemingly bizarre things – I can do that.  Allowing though – what is it?  What makes this so hard for me?

Dianne Collins (Do You QuantumThink?) says: “Allowing is a dynamic powerful faculty of the mind; an essential factor in creating from Intent.  Allowing is not merely waiting for something to show up.  Allowing is a passive yet conscious act of calling something forth from the quantum field, even though we can’t see or know at the outset exactly what is going to show up.  The faculty of allowing is an undetermined unfolding from the quantum field of probability, set up by a conscious Intent.”

My habits get in the way. I like to orchestrate events, organize, plan – make things happen.  Occasionally it’s been my way or the highway. My generation, my upbringing and education influence my world view. I was taught logic and critical thinking: If this is that, and that is the other, then this is the other.  Logical yes?  But oh, so gets in the way.

Ms. Collins says “When you are not getting what you say you want in life, heightened awareness and learning the . . dynamics of creating enable you to interrupt the automatic habits and access your real source of power to bring about the results you do want.”

Last fall I read Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit; Why we do what we do and how to change.  He suggested techniques to change behavior – “heightened awareness” being part of his methodology.  I applied the steps he described to “interrupt” my afternoon slump and snack attacks.  In addition to redirecting the Cue-Routine-Reward Loop, he pointed out several keys to success that I found intriguing.  Belief is a critical component to make lasting change; it can be the difference between success and failure.  If you believe change is possible, it probably is.

Duhigg also pointed out that “willpower isn’t just a skill. It’s a muscle.” . . “If you want to do something that requires willpower—like going for a run after work—you have to conserve your willpower muscle during the day,” . . “If you use it up to early on tedious tasks like writing emails or filling out complicated and boring expense forms, all the strength will be gone by the time you get home.”  AH-HA!  Good reason to quit that email!

Beyond awareness of how my habits and upbringing impact my unfolding Intent; belief and practice are necessary.  I must trust and have faith that my Intent will create the circumstances to bring the results I want. Practice means paying attention to cues as things unfold; watching for how my Intent arrives – it could be in a different package then the one I would orchestrate.

When I practice trust and have faith – I build my “faith” muscle.  I can give up some email time and other boring crap to get some willpower.  What do I need to avoid to build faith?  I bet its TV!

Remembering Clara

SlippersHer slippers arrived today.  I choked up when I held them – because now she won’t.  Clara, my mother-in-law passed away last week.  While we knew it would come, it was unexpected.  We thought we’d have Christmas.

Robert made an Intent the spring of 2013 – to “take care” of his “momma.”  And he did – he took care of her.  I watched them; the independent, feisty woman and her determined, gregarious son.  We didn’t think she’d make it two months, but talk about resilient; she hung with us for a year and a half.

I learned from her about accepting help; no mean feat for a woman who was a self-sufficient rolling stone – and chaffed at the constraints of her illness.  I learned from him about giving from the heart; despite his own ginormous health issues.  They fussed and teased, then shopped the thrift markets.  They poked and prodded; then kicked back and watched the birds & squirrels.

Our world; Robert’s and mine included and reflected Clara – daily.  Clara’s world included and reflected us; especially her son.  We were an alliance; a family unit.  I am him; he was her; she was me and back again.  Clara lives on; in us, her daughters, sisters, grandkids and great grandkids.

She’ll be missed – but her influence, her love lives on.

Knowing – I Am Me

Wyoming rainbowIn Living in the Light, Shakti Gawain said “The physical world is our creation: we each create our own version of the world, our particular reality, our unique life experience. Because my life is being created through my channel, I can look at my creation to get feedback about myself.”

I read this over 20 years ago – followed by Marianne William’s A Return to Love that taught “living out of our vision is more powerful than living out of our circumstance.  Holding on to a vision invokes the circumstances by which the vision is achieved.”

Then Gary Zukav and The Seat of the Soul came along with “You create your reality with your intentions.”

How is it that I know something, believe it; then live like I’m clueless?  For years?  Maybe my foibles and kinks of character led me down alternate paths for other lessons, different messages.  Now, decades later a passage, a few pages and thump, understanding upside the head.  Plant a seed; nurture the soil, the reaping will come.

Do You QuantumThink? by Dianne Collins brings my cornucopia. She quotes the sage “You can only manifest what you are conscious of being.” – She also asks: “when you create your Intent and your Intent doesn’t appear to be manifesting, what do you do?”  Here are “4 Aspects of Knowing” that if applied can open the door to conscious creation:

  1. The 1st Aspect of Knowing – Unawareness: we are clueless; we don’t know what we don’t know – in this “state of Unawareness you are your circumstances.”  Sleepwalking through life.
  2. The 2nd Aspect of Knowing – Conceptual: we see things as information, data; it enables focus and discipline – however “things show up like hard work … you are constrained by the goal … nothing is magical.”
  3. The 3rd Aspect of Knowing – Intuitive: this is knowing without evidence; “a conviction you have, something you sense is right.” You notice the “magic and are open to it coming your way” but “it is still separate.
  4. The 4th Aspect of Knowing – Participatory: “You are participating in the creation of reality … you are the seed … the blossom … the fruit” – “You are the Observer, and you are also that which you are observing.”

What result do I want that is eluding me?  Just notice which Aspect it’s in – “see how that shifts the result.”  Consider something small and “consciously shift it.”  Move it from unawareness or conceptual knowing and Participate in creation.

What about the smack that I want the hell out of my life?  Had to ponder this one a minute or two.  Ms. Collins says to simply watch it – and create a new Intent.  Awareness & Intention.  So simple. Lord, let me not complicate it!

Perspective – Bring me Freedom

Broad River 13Yesterday my mind was in a loop; a mental loop of doom; thinking about junk I didn’t want to happen, had no control over; thinking, fretting, worrying; resolving nothing.  Some thoughts just won’t let go.

There is a solution; Awareness and Intent.  My particular mental boomerang was all wadded up with an Intent I made a week ago; an Intent about someone else, and a change in perception I’d set for myself.  A change that required different behavior – from me.

I was ready for “the pleasure of what unfolds,” as Dianne Collins would say.  While she also said to “expect the unexpected,” I thought the results would be pleasant and I would be “amazed.”  What showed up was definitely unexpected.  And I was amazed all right – just not the amazed I wanted!  Every time I was seized by that beastly head game, I redirected; reminded myself of my Intent and set out to let it go . . . consciously moved my thoughts somewhere else – somewhere more productive.

Today I’m washed over with gratitude.  What a difference a day makes.  What changed?  Only my perspective!  What had me in its grip didn’t go away; how I perceived it though was transformed.  It was transformed because I let go of the outcome.

“We start the process of creating a result by generating an Intent, and we allow for the circumstances to attract to us the exact circumstances that will bring about the manifestation of our goal.”  – Dianne Collins, Do You QuantumThink?

The exact right circumstances came to “bring about the manifestation” of my goal – I’m convinced. Ms. Collins says the thing that stops us from truly manifesting what we want and desire – is attachment.

Most people know “the definition of insanity” is “doing the same thing expecting different results.”  We say we want better options and opportunities, more of this or that.  BUT – we want it doing and thinking the way we have for the past (how many) years?  No, I say . . . I don’t need to change the way I think, I don’t need to behave differently, I don’t need to be open to someone else’s viewpoint – What!?  Why!?

“Can you imagine being non-attached to having to be liked, having to be accepted, having to be approved of, having to be respected?  What freedom that would surely give.”  Dianne Collins says we’ll know our attachments when:

  • you feel anger or frustration
  • you make others wrong
  • you argue for your position
  • you have little or no control over your reaction
  • you cannot find your equanimity center”

Here are clues to what keeps me stuck.  Can I give them up?  My attachments?  My mental prisons?  Well I did with the dang monster thought – and the freedom was AMAZING – I was AMAZED in a good way.  Dancing around the house AMAZED.  I think I’ll try a few more.
