When I share cool stuff I learn – and hear “I get it” – I’m happy.
Finding Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay Self-Reliance gave me my touchstone . . . “Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again though it contradict every thing you said to-day.”
What I learn today may fundamentally change what I believed yesterday. What freedom – to live and grow and not be bound by the past.
My journey includes the love of Philosophy. School by night, full time work by day. After 14 years I picked up that diploma. Took off two years (twice) to make sure I REALLY was following my bliss – and having fun. Started out a Psych Major, and while I love head shrinking, all those boxes felt constraining. Working at an international Fortune 500 Company made me consider a Business Major. A team-building workshop in the woods put that idea to rest; No way!
I want to know why I’m here, where I’m going, how I fit in; the nature of the Universe. Starting with the old-dead guys I checked out what they had to say and where that would take me. The journey continues – and is definitely worth it!
I encourage everyone to live “The Emerson Rule”
